Beautiful Minds Network is a disability-led charitable organisation that creates awareness on mental health and works to reduce suicide in Kenya — through psycho-education, mental health camps, and suicide prevention, alongside partners including the Kenya Red Cross, Amref and the County Government of Laikipia.

“Ameerah, with the support of CPA Zachary Munyi, decided to turn her personal experience with mental illness into a mission to improve quality of life, promote mental health, and prevent mental illness and suicide. Through their work, they create avenues for information, education, and sensitization within communities, while also providing assessment and support to individuals and families affected by mental illness, both directly and indirectly.”Her motivation was fuelled by the loss of her cousin, Job Gichuhi, to suicide at age 22.

Psycho-Education
Teaching people to develop awareness of their mental and emotional wellbeing, with the aim of improving quality of life, preventing mental illness, and supporting effective management of mental health conditions.
Mental Health Camps
On-the-ground camps bringing assessment, information and support directly to communities.
Suicide Rescue Center
A dedicated point of support for people in crisis and those affected by suicide loss.

Beyond awareness campaigns, Beautiful Minds Network runs Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) programs on the ground, alongside partner organisations, in some of the settings that need it most.
Kikao Cha Wanaume (KIKAWA)
Beautiful Minds Network's major flagship project, focused on mental health for men and boys. KIKAWA creates the masculine social structures that men need to thrive, navigate modern pressures, prevent substance abuse and suicide, and improve their quality of life and productivity. Within these structures, men support one another through shared information, experiences and practical guidance.
Psychological First Aid & disaster response
In partnership with the Kenya Red Cross Society
Working alongside Kenya Red Cross disaster response teams, Beautiful Minds Network delivers Psychological First Aid — small, seated group sessions that help people affected by crisis process what they've been through and find their footing again.
Support inside police & correctional facilities
In partnership with Amref
With Amref, the team brings mental health and psychosocial support to police officers, correctional staff and inmates — groups who carry enormous pressure and are rarely asked how they're coping.
Children with disabilities & their caregivers
Kwanjora Special School
A psychosocial support program for children living with disabilities and the caregivers who support them every day — because caregiving takes its own toll, and deserves its own support.
Ability Angels
In partnership with Food For Education · Mombasa · January 2024 – June 2026
A psychosocial support program running alongside the Food For Education school feeding program in Mombasa, supporting children through counselling and mental health awareness built into their school day. Out of respect for the children involved, photographs from this project are not published.
Built on relationships with people who show up.
Mental health work only reaches people when institutions open the door. Courtesy visits and working sessions with county and security leadership in Laikipia have been part of how Beautiful Minds Network gets access to the communities that need support.
